On this week's episode of The Diet Obsessed Podcast, I give a quick update on how I got back into balance this week and then I launch into a review of Weight Wednesday from Jenny Hutt.
This was the perfect show to review, because Jenny provides a nice juxtaposition between the diet culture movement and the body acceptance movement. Jenny is someone who is VERY focused on maintaining her weight. She has lost 70 lbs in her lifetime and as she describes it, she has had the disease of obesity and she vehemently opposes the idea that wanting to lose weight or trying to stay at a lower weight, is fat phobic.
On Instagram, Jenny's daily post is what she eats in a day and how she moves her body to maintain her weight. Some people love it and some people get triggered by these posts; Jenny has been told many times she has an eating disorder, a concept she opposes and complains about throughout the show. Jenny believes in personal accountability. Do YOU. Don't just follow what other people do, figure it out for yourself, but don't tear someone down, just because they want to lose weight.
This show is VERY different from the podcast I often review "Diet Starts Tomorrow" which focuses more on body acceptance and body positivity, accepting a larger body and getting out of the mindset that we always need to be on a diet.
I discuss both concepts on this show and overall agree, there is no single right answer for everyone, we all need to find what is right for our own lives and I break it all down in this episode.
